A World Without Thieves, from popular Chinese director Feng Xiaogang, is a stylish, high-octane ride on a train to redemption - with some superbly choreographed battle scenes en route. It revolves around China's Bonnie and Clyde - Wang Bo, played by the superstar Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, MIFF 03), and Wang Li, played by Rene Liu. Partners in crime and passion, the couple swindle their way across China, but Wang Li is about ready to put a cap on the conning, even if Bo isn't. Then they run into Xa Gen (Wang Baoqiang), a worker returning to his hometown with 60,000 yuan in cash, and who naively believes that he lives in a world without thieves. Ironically, the train he boards is full of grifters, including Uncle Li (Ge You), a crime-meister from the old school and hell-bent on parting Gen from his savings. Wang Li takes it upon herself to protect Gen from Uncle Li, and Bo is drawn reluctantly into the ensuing battle between good and evil.
