FROZEN
Kate (Shirley Henderson) is unable to grieve for her missing sister, who two years earlier disappeared without trace. In her search for answers, Kate - a fish-factory worker in the astonishingly beautiful Morecambe Bay - steals a security tape from the police. It holds the last sighting of Annie. Haunted by a strange image on the tape, Kate is convinced she has found the key to Annie's disappearance: a portal to the afterlife, from whence Annie tries to reach her. Could Kate be on to something or is she simply going mad with frustration and anguish' This visually stunning first feature from Juliet McKoen is part psychological thriller, part murder mystery and part ghost story.
"In McKoen's subtle hands, Frozen becomes a poem about the limbo of not-knowing; of not being able to grieve for a loved one who keeps calling in dreams; and how this appalling ache reshapes the place where you live and the people you grow up with. It is also an exceedingly topical film about how horror is becalmed." - The Times
