BEYOND EYRUV
An intriguing look at the journey of a young man struggling to assimilate in New York after leaving the confines of an Orthodox Hasidic enclave.Strung above the streets of Orthodox Hasidic neighbourhoods, the eyruv demarcates a boundary between the sacred community and the ordinary world. For 18 year-old Moshe, it bounds the only world he has ever known. Growing up only 40 minutes from New York City, his life has been entirely defined by ancient Hebrew traditions and teachings.Resolving to leave the community and try his luck in the Big Apple, Moshe faces many obstacles. With Yiddish as his primary language and an education only in religious teachings, he is an immigrant in his homeland, struggling to assimilate.
