GARDENS IN AUTUMN
“A supple, silly and visually accomplished meditation on fleeting power versus simple joys.” - VarietyWhen Vincent, a French government minister, is ousted from his cushy position, he loses not only his job but also the lifestyle that comes with it - mistresses, mansions and money. Faced with an apartment full of African squatters and an increasing loss of status, Vincent chooses a new bohemian existence where he finds pleasure in drinking with old friends, chasing former lovers and the simplicity of playing guitar by an open window. Featuring Michel Piccoli as you've never seen him - charming and in drag as Vincent's doting elderly mother - Gardens in Autumn has been described as “minimalist schtick”, borrowing from Frenchman Jacques Tati in the gag department.
