FADOS
Encounter the music from Portugal that is conquering the world.
Fado, the Portugese national song of passion, sorrow and remembrance born from the slums of 19th-century Lisbon, is the subject of Carlos Saura's (Flamenco, Tango) haunting and memorable film. Shot entirely on a sound stage with screen projections, Saura creates the mood and ambience of Fado, and then introduces a range of solo and group performances.
Fados includes appearances from such musicians as Mariza Camane, Carlos Do Carmo, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veleso, Lila Downs, Toni Garrido and Miguel Poveda.
