LOU REED'S BERLIN (PG)
“I don't like nostalgia unless it's mine.” - Lou Reed
Lou Reed's Berlin album, released in 1973 to commercial failure and media excoriation, has been called Lou Reed's unknown masterpiece. A concept album about Jim and Caroline, two junkies stuck in an abusive relationship, it has never been performed live… until now.
Over five historic performances Reed brings his lost classic to life, backed by a full robed choir and a band of legendary musicians, including long-time Reed collaborators Steve Hunter, Fernando Saunders (of Heart), Tony ‘Thunder' Smith and Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons.
The performances incorporate inventive stage sets and projected film to create the overwhelming visual, sonic and emotional experience that is Berlin.
