BOB MARLEY: FREEDOM ROAD
"No one in rock and roll has left a musical legacy that matters more or one that matters in such fundamental ways." - Robert Palmer
Mixing mysticism with politics in an inspired musical union, reggae star Bob Marley was so influential that Time magazine in the 70s claimed he rivalled the Jamaican government as a political force. Despite his death from cancer almost 30 years ago, he remains without a doubt Jamaica's finest export, his music and message as powerful today as it ever was.
Freedom Road sits down with one of the people closest to Marley - his long-time girlfriend and musical collaborator, Oscar-nominated actress Esther Anderson. Using never before seen home-video footage, the doco details Marley and Anderson's life together in Jamaica and London, revealing a more private side of the boy from Trench Town.
