Where Mountains Float
Where Mountains Float is the first big Danish colour film and tells of the enterprise of Green-landers and Danes from kayak to cutter &ndash: from a hunting culture to fishing. This story is told in terms of a twelve-year-old boy. his little sister, and the older generation is represented by their grandfather.
Impressive scenes of Greenland &ndash: grey in rain and white with snow, with every colour of landscape; homes and people are matched with revealing glimpses of primitive children and the life of Greenlanders in turf huts, harbor, shipyard and ice-filled fiords. The film was awarded the Grand Prize for documentary features at the 1955 Venice Festival.
