Moving Statics
The art of abstract mime is fused with that of creative film making. Will Spoor draws his ideas for his art from the movement of animals, birds, objects in space, and relates them to the structure of the human body. He sees mime as the art of not moving, a matter of articulation by a body stripped to its essentials.
Now, with Arthur Cantrill, he has worked to analyse and experiment with the movement of the human body, using animation, speed changes, variable exposure and superimposition techniques—all intercut with studies of the cycie of his daily life of teaching, preparing his own work, playing with his dog, travelling from class to studio.
