Ned Wethered
Ned Wethered was a family friend who died when Lee Whitmore was 15. In trying to remember him, she wrote down her own recollections; she went looking for photographs of him, but found only one; she recorded piano arrangements of three pieces he had composed. Then she began to draw pictures of Ned as she remembered him, and as she imagined him.
The result of putting words, drawings and music together was the discovery of connections that Lee herself had never previously realised: a coherent personal memoir.Lee Whitmore was born in Sydney in 1947. She has worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, stage designer and art director for films, including "Stir" and "Winter of our Dreams". This is her first venture into animation and direction.
