THE ROAD TO BRESSON
De Weg Naar Bresson
Robert Bresson, the esteemed French director, began developing his radical new film form during the 1960s. The style, which he calls "cinematographe", is typified by an extreme sobriety and a purist use of cinematographic form. The rigidity of this style, and the unrelenting and uncompromising attitude of the director, have made Bresson an example to filmmakers all around the world. The Road to Bresson includes interviews with Louis Maile, Paul Schrader, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Bresson.
