The Sea Urchin
An astonishing film, richly and densely textured, from a remarkably talented British film student. The unfolding narrative of the troubled relations between three women — one young, two older — is almost a pretext for the parallel exploration of the enigmas, depths and mysteries of marine life. Sensuous photography, striking editing, mythological allusions and the use of strongly contrasted attractive women's faces make this a highly seductive film, one whose aesthetic is very feminine but not at all British. - (FF)
