A Fly Went By
Can a fly generate nuclear war? This psychoanalytic, political parable suggests it can. Around the domestic dinner table, during the soup course, sinister subterranean tensions - signalled by close ups of smacking lips, flashing eyes and tapping spoons - erupt into murderous hostilities. With a spare sound track, no music and almost no words, but some busy buzzing, the drama unfolds economically towards its resolution. Made by English postgraduate student, Rod Edge, at the Polish National Film and Television Institute in Lodz, which has a student exchange programme with Edge's film school, the Northern School of Film and Television in Leeds.
