SIAM SUNSET
Linus Roache (Father Greg from Priest, MIFF 1995) plays Perry, a successful British design executive for a paint company. His seemingly perfect life is marred, though, by disaster—we're talking big-time, fridge-freezer falling from a plane and flattening his wife disaster! In desperation, he travels to remote Australia in an obsessive quest to find an imagined paint colour called Siam Sunset. Haunted by extreme natural disasters—which seem to follow him everywhere—he meets Grace (Danielle Cormack), who's just stolen loot belonging to her drug-dealing boyfriend, Martin (Ian Bliss). Both troubled in their own ways, Perry and Grace decide to give life, and maybe love, another chance. But will the universe let them?
As evident in its selection for Critics Week at Cannes this year, Siam Sunset is set to shine through as a dangerously funny romantic adventure. Injecting a sizeable dose of biting black humour into the desert road movie genre, Siam Sunset is original and memorable.
