FRANKFURT-MILLENNIUM
Walter's 'Frankfurt Junction' is a greasy-spoon takeaway food stand with microwave cuisine and an alcohol license. For Walter and his 'guests', December 31st, 1999 is a day like any other: too caught up in their own nowhere lives, they no longer believe in easy solutions and scoff at the very idea of miracles.
Harry, for example, knows every pub in the area intimately but prefers Walter's, the only place he really feels at home. This arrangement certainly doesn't always suit Waller. Mannie is out of work, again, and also out of luck with Roswita. Mr Faltermann is fleeing the claustrophobia of his domestic situation, and a doctor on the way to endure the mayhem of the New Year's Eve nightshift can't see that there's to celebrate at all.
The grim gathering don't want anything to do with the eve of the new millennium. The millennium, however, has different plans and anyone who ends up at 'Frankfurt Junction' on this night had better rethink their opinion of miracles.
