THE HOLY MOUNTAIN

"Not even Buñuel with a brainful of Woodstock's bad brown acid could have made something this gloriously screwy." – Time Out New York

A mystical guide known as the Alchemist forms a group that includes a Messianic figure and seven powerful, materialistic titans of business. He leads them on journey to the Holy Mountain, where they plan to replace the gods and achieve immortality.

Cult filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Dance of Reality, MIFF 2013) has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity, in part due to the hit documentary Jodorowsky's Dune (MIFF 2013) that exposed modern audiences to his groundbreaking and deranged vision. The Holy Mountain is his masterpiece, an enigmatic work from the 1970s that demands to be seen on the big screen.

"Jodorowsky loves to confront the viewer with endless brutality and grotesque decadence and degradation, but here he expresses it with a rich, densely visual imagination." – LA Times
