MELBOURNE
When a well-meaning favour turns tragic, doing the right thing can lead to the wrong choices.
Hours before leaving Tehran for a three-year stay in Melbourne, young couple Amir and Sara pack up their apartment. Amid the hustle and bustle, Sara also agrees to babysit a neighbour's newborn, left with them by a nanny; however this innocent act soon threatens to derail more than just their plans to move abroad.
Best Screenplay winner at the 2014 Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the first feature from writer/director Nima Javidi is a psychological drama that sees good people forced to confront troubling circumstances. Channelling the works of Asghar Farhadi – and starring A Separation's (MIFF 2011) Peyman Moaadi – Melbourne patiently burrows to the heart of a moral dilemma, as assisted by excellent performances, intimate cinematography and expert editing.
"Compellingly universal and thoroughly engrossing." – Variety
