ELLIPSIS
Acclaimed actor David Wenham makes his feature directorial debut with a Before Sunrise-style, Sydney-shot romance set to the distinctive sounds of Megan Washington.
After jumping behind the camera to helm a segment of Tim Winton's The Turning (MIFF 2013), Wenham once again turns filmmaker to chronicle a night of chance meetings, colourful characters and unexpected adventures.
Executive produced by Robert Connolly (Paper Planes, MIFF 2014), Ellipsis charts the sparks that fly when Viv (Please Like Me's Emily Barclay) and Jasper (Benedict Samuel) collide, literally. He breaks her phone, then offers to help get it fixed, and they strike up a conversation that continues while they hop from the shores of Bondi to the hustle and bustle of Kings Cross.
Proving that all a director needs is a guy, a girl and a camera, the end result walks and talks through a lively ode to its Australian location. A micro-budget experiment focused on raw, improvised performances, the film was conceived, workshopped and shot in just ten days.
Director David Wenham will be at both sessions to introduce the film and take part in a post-screening Q&A.
