Goldblum Marathon
MIFF’s overnight marathon, uh, finds a way again – and this year we’re going full, err, Goldblum!
Before he became the internet’s boyfriend, Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum was that delightfully weird actor you loved from that little film Independence Day. Or The Fly. Or, uh, Earth Girls Are Easy?!
Offbeat, quirky and endearingly flirty, Jeff Goldblum has been seducing the world since 1974. He is “charm personified” according Glenn Close. Paul Rudd is a self-confessed “Goldblum admirer”. Laura Dern speaks for all of us when she says “he makes you so damn happy to be alive”. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi goes even further, explaining that “Jeff’s like a delicate flower. And we, his fans, are the sunlight that keeps him alive. He doesn’t go out in the sun. The reason he’s so tanned is from all the adoration.”
From 11.30pm on Friday 9 August, join us at The Astor as we host over 12 hours of straight-up Goldblum gold.
Films screening in the marathon, in order, will be:1. Vibes (35mm)
2. Thor: Ragnarok
3. The Tall Guy
4. The Fly
5. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
6. Earth Girls Are Easy (35mm)
7. Independence Day
