O Black Hole!
Loneliness is operatic in the latest film by Renee Zhan (Reneepoptosis, MIFF 2019; Hold Me (Ca Caw Ca Caw), MIFF 2017).
A festival favourite that previously screened at TIFF, Locarno and SXSW (where it won the Special Jury Recognition for Vision), O Black Hole! is a mixed-media masterpiece gravitating around a woman-turned-black-hole and the beings and bodies she has absorbed over time. Told in multi-harmony song, the film tackles the unstoppability of time, the beauty of transience and the true power of letting go.
