The Berlinale’s Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film) winner is a shrine to fading memories from the director’s own childhood.

It’s the late 1990s and a Chinese family are all cooped up in sweltering house. The grandparents are tending to small children, while the overworked parents and siblings come and go, but everyone is waiting for the cool change to break. Remains of the Hot Day portrays the closeness of a family through the eyes of a six-year-old girl.
