A poignant glimpse of the bond between a father and his teenage daughter at the height of the Iran–Iraq war.

Amid the turmoil of the Iran–Iraq war in the 1980s, a father drives his 15-year-old daughter out to the Iranian countryside of Birjand. As they prepare to say goodbye, a pivotal interaction reveals the true intention behind her journey. In the Garden of Tulips captures a touching relationship between a parent and a child and highlights the devastating impact of war – and the difficult sacrifices it calls for – on an intimate, human level.
