Viewer Advice: Contains stroboscopic imagery.

Time collides and collapses in this kaleidoscopic reflection on change in Hong Kong.

Inspired by the cataclysmic changes in his homeland of Hong Kong, Simon Liu (Happy Valley, MIFF 2021) has created a self-described “Cinema-Strobo-Scopic film”, steeped in analog darkroom practices and dense shrouds of video processing techniques. An expansion of Liu’s visual style, Single File is an immersive evocation of the struggle for personal expression in the face of censorship.
