About MIFF Schools
Enhance your students’ cinema and language learning, intercultural understanding and media-analysis skills with the MIFF Schools program.
MIFF Schools is an initiative that aims to enrich the cinema experience for younger viewers, and returns in 2024 as part of MIFF’s 72nd edition. This year’s slate has been curated with a view to presenting high-quality, diverse films in some of the languages commonly taught in Victorian schools – French, Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish and German. The films have also been selected for how well they address the Victorian Curriculum’s Arts, Humanities, Science and Languages learning areas, as well as themes and issues relevant to the Critical and Creative Thinking, Ethical Understanding, Intercultural Understanding, and Personal and Social capabilities.
Additionally, MIFF will present free Professional Learning webinars on each of the programmed films. These online seminars will be delivered by MIFF’s film-analysis expert, Dr Josh Nelson, to give teachers additional resources, strategies and ideas for how to best incorporate a screening of a MIFF Schools film into their students’ classroom-based learning.
